This will promote more realistic training: the F-35 rarely fights alone, usually cooperating with other types of compatible aircraft to accomplish missions.
DMT will be particularly useful in ensuring that F-35 pilots around the world have a way to rapidly distribute pilots to the rest of the F-35 community. New tricks and ideas on one base can be shared in the virtual world with pilots around the world, allowing others to quickly follow suit.
Nellis Air Force Base will receive DMT in the early 2020s, and the technology will eventually be rolled out to other bases around the world. One catch: all three services (US Air Force, US Navy, US Marine Corps) fly three different versions of the F-35, but pilots from the different services won't be able to fly against each other.
